In my joy,
I am healed
My wife is blind
My leg is crippled
We live impoverished
But we live with each other
I know I am to work as much as I can
I know that she will never see me
But I still love her more every day
I heard one day that a teacher was coming through town
A teacher that could heal the sick and feed the hungry
I thought that He might be able to allow her to see
I invited him to my house
I fed him a meal and I asked him my burning question
“Could you heal her?”
My love for her was so great that I wished for her happiness above my own
The teacher smiled ever so gently
My wife cried tears at my request
The teacher wiped away her tears with the sleeve of his tunic
And she looked into His eyes and she smiled
Then she laughed
And her mirth was infectious
For I started laughing with joy as she saw me for the first time
Joy was in my heart
I was so happy that I tried to dance
My feet faltered and I fell
My smile did not diminish
For at that time the Teacher bent down to raise me up
And new strength grew in me
My legs felt new and whole
I leaped up and hit my head on the ceiling
The pain was gone.
My Joy was real
The Teacher, his followers, me and my wife
All laughed and danced with joy
For a blind wife and a crippled husband were healed and whole for the first time
