Giant Vs. Dragon

Back in the days of Creation

The Creator’s blessing was still aware to all living creatures

Giants roam the land

Mammals that uproot trees

Lizards devour the mammals

Man was young

The world unexplored and new

Dagan was the giant that earned his name

Dagan the dragon slayer

Dagan was a giant for a man

Standing as tall as young trees

And using them as spears

Dogs whimpered at his call

Lions mewled at his steps

Cows were his sandals and belt

Dagan was large and in charge

He mastered the lands

East of Eden

North of the Sea

The dragons West of Eden

Were the only beasts that he sought to hunt

They were the only ones that proved a challenge

His tribe always feasted well after his hunts

But his hunts are few because only he can fight the thunder Lizards

He readies his flint spear

He marches through the jungle of the wild

Though a big man

It still takes him a day or two to arrive

At the hunting grounds

Upon arrival to his camp

He finds that his tools from last time

Are already ready to be used

He gathers together that which he deems necessary

And heads off into a game trail

He climbs into a nearby tree

One of the ones that he means to chuck his spear from

Impale the large lizard

Feed his tribe for a week

He is Dagan the Dragon Slayer

The roar from the lizard below shoots a tingle up his spine

Were as cats and dogs are afraid of Dagan

These Lizards knew not the same fear

They saw him as prey

A big one

It knocked on his tree

And it looked up at Dagan

It smiled a toothy grin

And it smelled of rotting meat

Dagan stood on the high branch

Looking down on the carnivore

He turned his spear point down

The lizard clapped it jaw in anticipation

It seemed to know a battle would happen

Dagan mustered his courage

He leapt from on high driving his spear

He felt the pulse of the lizard through the thick shift

In a single instant

Dagan had made a mistake

He missed the heart of the beast

As the lizard squealed in anguish

It took the offensive and began to claw and bite

Dagan struggled with the thunder

Struggled against death itself

He grabbed his flint dagger and stabbed the eyes

The beast was bigger than him

His spear thrust should have been perfect

But he missed

Bleeding and bruised

Dagan the dragon slayer

And the dragon he tried to slay

Both giants of earth

Both in enemy territory

The air was rife with the smell if blood

And there were more than one dragon in the area
