I fear that the Bobs has transversed down an irreparable path that is the folly of all science fiction. That most hated of all paths, time-travel. I fear that after having read the last book that that ugly paradox filled topic will rear its head once again and destroy yet another good story.
Dennis E. Taylor has provided stories and entertainment for the past few years. This year I was more excited for a book than I was for a video game or movie or almost anything else. Like someone super excited for a new toy, I bought and listened to it so fast. I wanted to know the continued story, to know the next part of the story, to know what happens to the heroes, the Bobs. I stayed up all night to listen to the story.
Bob partnered with Annak to build a quinniverse for the Quinlans. Bob replicates a Quinlan, one that had a meaningful impact on him in Heaven’s River, Theresa, from the fourth book. She helps educate and teach the Bobs and ephemerals about how they should act in their afterlife.
Howard and Bridgette conduct a visit to a medieval species of Dragons. Not a dumb knights and dragons, but an intelligent species that is about in the medieval time period. Monks and kings. They are trying to fight for the survival of their species in their volcanic world.
Will and some of his cohorts are working to move their extended human family away from tyrannical government that seeks ways to control the Bobs once again.
Hue and the Skippies, that group name comes from another sci-fi book series call Expeditionary Force, are working to make true A.I. They succeed and make a rouge intelligence that helps the Bobs progress further than they even thought, even if it was done with ill intentions. The A.I. gave them what they needed to work harder and faster than they had in a long time.
Ichoras and Dayalas have gone to the far reaches of the galaxy and learned that there had been a mass Exodus from the galaxy in data form to a different galaxy because the Milky way is doomed to die in another 100,000 years.
This is where I believe that that most hated topic of time-travel comes into play. Being that the Bobs have found that the Milky way is doomed to die, and that Bob and Theresa are working to make people understand that there can be life after death, that there is a rogue A.I. pushing the Bobs to work harder and faster, and even Howard and Bridgette are working to reach out to technologically dumb species to be uplifted. Everything that has been done is working toward time-travel.
The Bobs will eventually determine that they need to go back in time to set a path that they can follow so that they can evacuate their family and save all sentient species. In their adventures in Time, they all form ties to families to all alien species. Their uplifting of species makes bonds of families. But they also find that they have gone too far back in time and that as they continue to move out and make wormholes they must realize that they cannot make any wormholes near Earth or any future human colonies, for this would collide with the Fermi Paradox. The take special care not to interfere with the events that needed to take place that would help them grow in their intelligence both mentally and emotionally.
One other thing that I think may happen but probably no guarantee is the eventual collapse of the Bobs upon each other. Each one of the Bobs would be re-contained with each other creating a sort of super intelligence, one that is greater than even that of an A.I. The Bobs would be Bob, singular and whole with the intelligence of the whole galaxy at his disposal. With the wisdom and nerdy-ness to show that time-travel is dumb.
