This is a thought of what could have been DLC for Halo: Infinite. A columenation of all the Halo Lore built around the buildup of Halo: Infinite using the Novels and advertising for the game. I feel that as a long time fan that Infinite could have been and should have been truly epic. But somewhere along the way 343 gave up on the campaign and went straight for the multiplayer. So I thought of a few DLC ideas that could have been.
Before Infinity came to Zeta Halo
- The Flood
The Flood DLC would have been through the eyes of a Flood spore that is capable of changing host bodies at will. Moving from a spore, to a human, to an Elite, to a brute, to a pure form. The spore’s main objective is to herd a small group of humans toward the library to snag the Activation Index for the Gravemind of Zeta Halo. This DLC would have been a stealthy approach to exploring the small crevices of the Halo, with small bits of Flood based combat littered throughout. The Flood spore would have become a new playable character for the open sandbox world of Halo Infinite.
- The Ferrets, AKA the Spartan-IIIs
The Ferrets were a deep cover ONI operation with the Objective of decimating the Banished from within and toppling the Brute leadership. This DLC would have been a spy/assassin that would have further the exploration of Banished lore and hierarchy. With the player being able to wield the small Spartan-IIIs they would have full range and freedom of movement within the Banished fortresses and towns, giving new life to the backstory of the Brutes. Their objective is to disrupt the trusts and bonds of the Banished. This would be a DLC that would focus more on talking and less with combat. There would be combat instances, but being that any humans that side with the Banished are under close observation, kills would have to be conducted in seclusion and secret.
After Infinity came to Zeta Halo, but before Master Chief was found
- Blue Team
Fred, Kelly, Linda and Spartan III Jun descend to the surface of Zeta Halo with hopes of rallying the human forces and setting up a proper resistance. This DLC would incorporate the team co-op similar to Gears of War, to where the play could not move forward unless an objective somewhere else had been fulfilled. The gameplay would also be heavily focused on horde mode type fighting because this is Blue team, bring on the Hyper Lethal Vectors. I also could see Linda and Jun having a Snipe off to find out which is the better shot.
- ODST – Helljumpers
ODST are the original HellDivers. Feet First into Hell. Before the defeat of Infinity, it launched it’s ODSTs and several other pods to establish a base of operations away from the landing of Infinity. The ODST squad that the players are in charge of is tasked with locating the other pods and setting up hard line communications between the different pods and bases so that an effective resistance may be established. In the midst of their travels they come across Professor Ellen Anders and they are told that The Spirit of Fire is still alive and in need of desperate reinforcements. The ODSTs take her back to the nearest base and with their mission completed they are given a new one to escort Professor Anders back to Infinity and to a pair of frigates to go to the Lesser Ark to reinforce the Spirit of Fire. Vehicle fights galore with these troopers.
- Spartan-IVs
Under the command of Spartan Buck, Spartans Mickey, Dutch and Gretchen conduct hunt and destroy bounties on High Value targets from the Banished hit list given by the Ferrets. Just another day in the combat of Halo.
- Wort-wort-wort
Now, this is a truly inspired thought. A Brute, an Elite, a Jackal, and a Grunt team up and have grand adventures exploring, with a unique set of skills these four kill and maim humans and flood while exploring forerunner facilities and flood infested regions. The humans that they come across are spirited and full of hope. Leave their demoralization to Yayup and his Elite crew.
After the Core events of Halo: Infinite
- Back to the Chief
The Master Chief, John-117, after his defeating the Banished Spartan Killers, decides to pursue the goal of destroying Artiox before he wreaks havoc on the galaxy. Spartan-117 delves deeper into the Halo coming across Ferrets that warn him of impending dangers ahead. The Banished, while their leadership is in shambles, they are far from completely defeated. However with the Spartan Killers and the Banished leadership all but gone, the UNSC remnants start coming out of hiding. Blue team meet up with Master Chief and move with him for a mission or two before breaking off to hold back a pair of scarabs. The Chief moves forward and moves into the enclosed quarters and the flood starts to make its appearance around John. Alpha-Nine comes into play and with a set of flamethrowers and rockets the flood is beaten back and the Chief moves forward. Master Chief catches up to Atriox as Offensive Bias comes into view and when all seems to much and the Chief is feeling most overwhelmed Blue team and Alpha-Nine come into play and viciously destroy the forerunner constructs and with a team effort Atriox is defeated, but Offensive Bias sees that Humanity still remains a threat.
