Do you know of the rolling hills?
I suppose you must.
The hills that seem large and unconquerable
Up and up they go
Mountains tall and large
But they once sprang from the volcanic plains,
A Volcano that was once a blaze,
It could bend even the mantle of earth,
The rolling hills remain hills
Even though they now stand taller than the volcano,
It was that fire that formed their past
And made them as big as they are.
Where’s Bodyguards
Pearl May and her daughter, Alba, were shopping at a local grocery store. Alba noticed that there was a kindly looking old man going around with a walker. Every where he went, two giants of men followed close behind him. Alba asked her mother who that man was.
“Don’t ever cross that little old man.” Pearl May answered in a hushed whisper. ”He may seem helpless, but he is the main man of the redneck mafia. He holds the respect of twenty different states, and the contracts of thousands. Those two that follow him are just the tip of the iceberg that are ready at a moment’s notice.” Pearl continued on with her shopping hoping that her daughter might learn sarcasm one day.
Alba was kind of interested in hearing more of the old man’s story. She brazenly walked over to the kind looking old man. But before she could within chatting distance, she was confronted by four knees at her eye height. She looked up toward the heavens. Past the clouds and soaring birds. She saw the dark eyes stare down at her with contempt. It was the kindly voice that could be heard from between the mountains that broke her imagination of the bodyguards.
The kind old man pushed his way past his bodyguards and made his way down to Alba. He was a kindly old man who smiled gently. He took a lollipop from his pocket and unwrapped it and gave it to Alba. She received it warmly and smiled back at the old man. He stood back up and turned back down the grocery aisle. He tripped a bit but was caught and saved by one of the mountains that stood nearby. So maybe the men weren’t there to protect him from being attacked by others, they were there to protect his body from damaging itself.
Alba returned to her mother’s side happy with the treat in her mouth and the new view of what was a scary idea.
