Law abiding citizen
The story of a man that was wrong by the system of courts that was meant to protect law abiding citizens. Throughout the course of the film, we see Cylde Shelton go from loving father and husband to Wrath of God. This flim had suspense and terror for the lawyers and cops that saw this. For the man started killing his way up the food chain starting with criminals that killed his family, to their defense attorney, eating his way up the government chain all to his point: the system is broken when criminal that murder and rape get off with a slap on the wrist.
Now, this movie has an anti-establishment vibe to it. When the people that you assume are lawyering for the rights of the people that they are supposed to protect are getting gunned down, then who is the hero supposed to be? The hero is without a doubt the character Clyde Shelton. A man that had everything taken from him and spent ten years to prepare to fight the courts on their own grounds. He never gave up on his goals even when he was being monitored 24/7. Even when placed into solitary he still kept pushing forward to show how broken the system was. Admitally, he did confess to taking revenge for his wife and child by killing the murderers and rapists, but do any of the normal people in the audience see that as a bad thing? The answer is no. Good conquering evil, heroes defeating villains, isn’t that what we have been taught to believe? Defeating the defenders of the evil ones and defeating the corrupt system of laws that keeps evil men from going to jail. That’s all Clyde was trying to do.
So that being said Clyde, though the villain in the film was really a hero to society. For as we as a society move forward we see how corrupt the government really is and the effects of the corruption are seen as more normal people take up arms against those that wish to harm others and not follow the rules of society.
