If I was near,
I would knock on your door,
You would open it,
I would grasp your hand and lead you outside,
If I were near,
The world would seem small and undaunted,
We would go everywhere and see everything,
There would be no want,
We would eat for the pleasure,
Such joy there would be,
If I were near.
Sadly,
I am not near,
And you are not close,
I know not what door to knock,
Nor do I know what you hand looks like,
I am afraid of the world,
Because of the evils that infest it.
I eat for hunger,
I know little of pleasure,
Such joy I still have,
Though it was gain through trials.
If I were near,
Perhaps I might share my life,
Perhaps you would stay with me,
If I were near.
