Mountain Home

Let me tell you about my dream home. It resides at the foot of the mountain. The pillars of the house are of giant “V” shapes, they go up and over the main body of the house showing great strength as it required ten men to fully circle one of the pillars. For these pillars are made from a living wood and they encircle and hold the home together.

The home itself is five stories tall and one hundred and fifty meters long while being a hundred meters deep. As it resides next to the mountains, its foundation is that of solid stone. The roots of the pillars wrap around the stone foundation. Next to the stone flows a mountain stream where the water deposits into a pond. The plumbing would be fed by the river and likewise feed into the pond, the pond has many fish in it making for a perfect septic tank.

As one walks onto the property, the road has many winding paths that lead up and around, making for exquisite walking trails. The main road with a road to the right, with another back to the left leads up to the Mountain Home. Parking for fifty, for this is a place that is meant to be shared. The forest is dense at the edge of the property and lighter near the house, many paths, streams and creeks follow the river down. The forest is not without life, for this place is meant to be shared.

The entry hall is as tall as the house. Many balconies lead into the entry hall from the many rooms. Friends and family residing in the house all are happy to be here as they do not quarrel and do not mind the chores. What a house this is. A place that can sleep nine families, 4 people per family, most comfortably. The top three levels are the rooms for sleeping, the bottom two stories are meant for the comfort of days when life needs to be spent inside. TVs and games, puzzles and crafts, there shall never be a want for more or less.

The kitchen will be huge as family meals need to be had. Fresh water comes from the mountain. An outdoor garden resides on the southern slope, and a greenhouse near the house for winter gardening. An orchard lies in the northern slopes and ridges, apples, oranges, plums and cherries. As for meat and protein, fish reside in the pond, wild game in the woods, a chicken coop in a nearby shed on the west side close to the river. Verily, nothing shall be lacking.

There are secrets in the house, one around every corner. Places found and forgotten about. Places that offer comfort and relaxation, a spa somewhere on the third floor. A den, dark and full of old arcade games has been seen once or twice by guests, though I don’t recall putting it in. Who knows what other secrets lay still within the walls.

A library that isn’t really a secret resides on the east side second floor to the fifth floor, full of classics and new reads, histories and sciences, shelves full of lives that lived before, ideas passed down to the next. The library is the best secret for the house does not look able to support the life that resides within. The library is open to residents and strangers, those that make the track to view books often find themselves there for two or three days. They read and read, they are welcome to stay for there is food a plenty, nothing ever lacks, and somehow the house always provides and room is found for sleeping.

Yes, this is my dream home. It sounds nice doesn’t it?
