The Descent of Dragos – 12: The Last Bit but not the end

March 2078

Not all the time was spent fighting men and their pursuit of stopping evolution. No, there was considerable downtime spent learning new magic and lounging in the sun. Gaining lessons from Ed and Gaia. The manmade god and mother nature herself had become the surrogate parents to the first three children blessed by magic. They had always acted like a family. There was no doubt that they were created as a science experiment. There was no doubt that they had no parents of the biological sort. And yet, they were calm and content with this.

Ed had been spending considerably more time with Gaia in the past two years, ever since their practical declaration of war against the remaining humans. The humans whose children would not only be theirs, but born of magic as well.

Ed had shown the cities of yesteryear to Gaia. Though the cities were overgrown with forests, electricity still ran and lit up the used to be street with a glow that had a green tint. The animals that congregated to these spots seemed to dance and play.

Gaia in her turn took Ed by secret paths that man had long since abandoned to groves that the moon barely knew. There creatures of a dark world grew in their ways. Creatures and monstrosities larger than the tanks and airships of men. These beasts that were still growing were to remain wild unless tamed by magical beings. For non-magical beings would be terrified and frightened by their size and predatory instincts.

The new age of magic was at their doorstep, all that remained was the last few Pure humans that were unblessed by magical means. These served directly under Norman’s company. Half a billion people that remained on the west coast of what was the United States. Large cities still remained there, unfettered by the magical forests. They still remained the pinnacle of human scientific progress. Lots of automation and robotics littered the streets and minds of the men that stayed behind when the rest left. And if Ed had his way, he would allow Norman to watch the madness that was to take place due to his own greed. Alas, that was not to be as Norman would most likely die before that day would be seen.
