Senseless
The eyes are not here
There are no eyes here
In this valley of dying stars
In this hollow valley
This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms
In this last of meeting places
We grope together
And avoid speech
Gathered on this beach of the tumid river
Sightless, unless
The eyes reappear
As the perpetual star
Multifoliate rose
Of death’s twilight kingdom
The hope only
Of empty men.
The blind may see after a light is given
The light is there hidden in shadow
Upon the mountaintop, stars are seen
The mountain is filled with ore
This is the last hope for our people
On this last terrority
We clasp with each other
And sing together
We view the world below and weep
Though our song breaches to the hopeless
Voiceless
We cough
The lights shine through
Our eyes become blind through radiance
We sing in our own darkened state
And hope is heard among the silent
