Winter Rose

A Winter Rose

By Zachary Furr

Deep in the woods,

Deep in the winter,

A clearing can be found,

With snow surrounding it,

The naked tree around it,

A single rose is there.

A rose that shows its green leaves,

Even during the harshest of weather,

The rose petals shine their cool blue,

For it is a wonder to behold,

A single stalk rises from the frozen earth,

And stands alive among the cold.

For its will allows it to remain vibrant,

When its brothers and sisters,

Rather hibernate,

For its will is supported by another,

It is no wonder why the cold does it no harm.
